What is Tantric Meditation?

A dynamic form of meditation:
We engage deeply with the senses as a pathway to awakening
We master the mind through skillful use of energy
We move beyond mind to connect with the Infinite
We bring the light of Pure Consciousness back into the world

I was introduced to Transcendental Meditation at 15. By age 20 I had begun a serious study of yoga, which led me over the years to explore various forms of meditation - Witness Consciousness, Vipassana, Mindfulness. Meditation had always helped me feel centered and calm. But when I first experienced Tantric Meditation at age 49, I was quite simply blown away. A portal opened within me. I was introduced to a vast inner world, and my practice completely ‘took off’. For the first time in my life, meditation offered me much more than inner peace. It cracked open my mind and changed me at my core. It gave me experiences beyond my comprehension, leaving me wide-eyed in wonderment. It nudged me to face hidden demons who eventually became my allies. It helped me to understand myself better, while seeing the world around me in a whole new light. It brought new epiphanies, nourished my passions, and guided me to move through the doorway of fear - to step into the light of the Self, claim my intrinsic gifts, and create my own joy.

This is what I want to share with you.

The mind’s innate brilliant makes it our greatest ally on the spiritual journey. And yet with its constant busy-ness and distraction, fears and triggers, stories and dramas and incessant need for control - mind is also our biggest obstacle. The Tantrics learned we could make use of the mind’s inherent brilliance while transcending the challenges it presents. They leaned into the science of prana - the energy and intelligence of the very life force that animates us - and found that by shaping our energy, we could master the mind.

The systematic techniques offered in this course offer a roadmap to free us from the suffering brought on by continual stress, stimulation and never-ending change. We enter into a ceaseless stream of calm beyond mind that is saturated with prana - a vibrant self-guiding presence that nourishes and empowers us toward greater thriving. By discovering our unique inner radiance, we become a light to the world around us.

TRAINING MODULES

  1. Peaceful, Calm & Tranquil Mind - the Witness
Calming the mind and settling into witness consciousness is the bedrock of all forms of meditation, at all stages, no matter the style or tradition. In Tantric meditation, we use this foundation as a springboard to access inner light, healing, intuition, and higher states of awareness. Even as we progress along our journey, we never truly leave this first stage. We will come back to it again and again and again, finding each time new gifts that arise from the quiet mind

  2. Awakening to Inner Radiance - Prana Shakti
Once we can look beyond the mind’s busy-ness, we gain access to a brilliant inner world of light, sound, pulsation, presence - Prana! This self-guiding intelligence connects us to a higher reality, the Self of all. It awakens us to our inner teacher as it begins us on the journey of expansion. Our focus on prana vidya (the science of prana) is a defining aspect of Tantric meditation

  3. Healing the Heart - Guided by Love
Our growing relationship with inner presence affirms that our very existence arises out of a loving intelligence. This ceaseless flow of love heals the deep wounds of our heart. At this stage, we are facing our feelings of unworthiness, negativity and self-doubt. By tapping into a ceaseless flow of unconditional love, we begin to trust that we are forever held, loved, and guided

  4. Power at the Navel - Turning Darkness into Light
With a calm and peaceful, inward flowing mind, anchored in the knowledge that we are loved and guided - we are now ready to purify the psyche. We systematically build the fire of discernment and determination we will use to overcome obstacles as we transform our life experience into wisdom. By bringing light into the dark corners of our psyche, we recognize the beauty hidden within those obstacles, and we grow in our courage and positivity. I can do this!!!

  5. Working with Trauma - Negotiating Difficult Emotions
We continue the work of the heart and navel centers as we give focused attention to strong emotional triggers and working with trauma through meditation. This course will present modern approaches to working with trauma in the context of ancient techniques that have stood the test of time over thousands of years. The synthesis of ancient and modern offers us clarity on key practices. This section will be co-taught by Mary Johnston-Coursey and Bonnie Wallace

  6. Deepening Our Personal Practice - The Long View
In this final training, we explore the three granthis - psychic knots - that must be loosened in order to continually grow along one’s spiritual path. Through purification of the psyche, we begin to loosen these knots and move progressively upward, from the navel to the crown. Surrender at the heart, mastering the third eye, transcendence through the crown - these are stages we can look forward to and explore as we continue to cultivate a single pointed focus, devotion, determination, self-knowingness, and non-attachment

Through a systematic progression of techniques, this course is designed to help newer meditators become established in a personal practice, to direct more experienced meditators as they deepen their practice beyond a plateau, and to offer meditation teachers a beautifully clear set of tools to become skillful and inspiring guides.

  • The course includes a mixture of In-person and Livestream Sessions
